INFORMM Young Scientist Award 2023

The INFORMM Young Scientist Award ceremony was held online on 3rd April 2024 to celebrate the achievements of three students recognized for their outstanding academic and research accomplishments. Around 30 attendees were present, including lecturers, staff, and students of INFORMM.

The ceremony began with a speech from the Director, AP Dr Aziah Ismail, followed by remarks from the chairperson, Dr Norsyahida Arifin. The winners were then impressively announced by the emcee of the day, Ms. Nurul Nadia. The award-winning students were Dr. Gaayathri a/p Kumarasamy who won in the PhD category; Jacqueline Mark Kar Kei for the MSc in research mode; and Nuramira Syazreen for the MSc in the mixed-mode category. Each recipient received both a cash prize and a certificate. 

Even though the ceremony was held online, the sense of celebration was clearly felt, thanks to the lively presentation by the emcee and the enthusiastic emoji reactions from the audience.

Each winner expressed their gratitude to their respective supervisors, colleagues, and staff for the immense support they received on their path to success. Dr. Gaayathri extended special thanks to her supervisor, Prof Gurjeet Kaur for the support and guidance that led her to achieve the status of GOT, and shared tips for success with fellow students. Jacqueline, who is currently pursuing a PhD, thanked her supervisor, AP Dr Tye Gee Jun, while Nuramira Syazreen Suhaimi, also a PhD student and winner of the MSc mixed-mode category, expressed her gratitude to her supervisor, Dr Noor Fatmawati Mokhtar. One of her achievements include attaining a perfect 4.0 CGPA in her studies.

INFORMM extends its heartiest congratulations to the award recipients and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors.
